The first PALFINGER fan shop
An all-round brand experience
PALFINGER World was opened in Lengau, Upper Austria, on 8 May 2023. The umdasch designers created and implemented a concept for the integrated retail space in the welcome area that optimally reflects the values of the globally active supplier of innovative crane and lifting solutions and enables an ideal presentation of the fan articles in its own fan shop. The Upper Austrian municipality of Lengau is not only home to the world's largest PALFINGER plant, but also to the extensive PALFINGER World. Its aim is to give visitors an understanding of the corporate values and the people behind PALFINGER in addition to the product diversity and the global network. The aim is to create a comprehensive picture of the brand. After umdasch had already been responsible for the shop-in-shop design for the trade fair appearance of the international group at the world's largest construction trade fair "bauma" in Munich, the Store Makers were also commissioned to create an extraordinary world of experience in the form of a fan shop. This project called for the entire service portfolio of umdasch – from the control of all trades as general contractor to the design, planning, shopfitting and lighting concept to digital signage, interactive applications and ESL. umdasch as a one-stop partner in the true sense of the word.
Everything for the PALFINGER fan
Guided tours for visitors to the 1,600 square metre PALFINGER World always begin and end at the retail space in the Welcome Area. In addition to sunglasses, pocket knives and watches in PALFINGER design, the popular PALFINGER models in 1:50 scale are also for sale. In terms of clothing, visitors can expect the fairly produced and ecologically sustainable #WORLDCHANGER collection, which puts the focus on sustainability. Since the first impression is known to be the most important one, the umdasch designers paid special attention to arousing the interest of the guests from the moment they enter the welcome area.
PALFINGER is known for innovative lever solutions and it is precisely these that are playfully presented in miniature on the store floor in the fan shop. From ceiling panels in the central area, which simulate the open sky, product carriers were suspended with the help of abstracted PALFINGER product solutions, such as crane hooks – a creative shelving solution that fits the brand. Another eye-catcher is the small-scale PCC crane manufactured by the PALFINGER training workshop, which was integrated into the central room podiums made by umdasch and holds a clothes rail for presenting the latest PALFINGER collections. The furniture by umdasch thus offers an optimal stage for the PALFINGER merchandise articles and make visitors want to buy a souvenir to take home after their visit to PALFINGER World. For the lighting system, the Store Makers attached particular importance to the light colour and colour rendition of the LED spotlights ideally highlighting the features of the products presented. The entire lighting system is controlled by the DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) system and is embedded in the central house control – so it can be adjusted as required. Another important step towards efficiency and sustainability!
Another special feature of the umdasch shopfitting experts is the changing room with integrated selfie point. Using a tablet embedded in the mirror, visitors can take selfies and transfer them directly to their own mobile phones – a nice reminder of their visit to PALFINGER. Even the curtain of the cabin becomes an interactive attraction, as it can be opened and closed individually with an adapted PALFINGER crane control. "PALFINGER World with its fan shop is a great example of how brands can be successfully brought to life for fans. We Store Makers were able to score points in the project implementation in particular with our broad range of expertise. I am sure that the result will amaze all PALFINGER fans", says umdasch Key Account Manager Daniel Hundegger about the newly opened space.
Digital applications with an interactive character
In terms of digital signage, PALFINGER World has its finger on the pulse and offers visitors numerous digital touchpoints as well as opportunities for interaction. One of the highlights in the fan shop implemented by the umdasch digital professionals is a Transparent Showcase, i.e. a display case with semi-transparent product films matching the respective model in the showcase. During demonstrations for visitors and customers, the shop staff can exchange the models and RFID technology is used to play the respective content on the display. In addition, the showcase display allows visitors to get to know the different models interactively. The store area also features stretch displays for electronic shelf labelling including integrated advertising messages as well as touch screens for browsing the entire product range. In addition, the umdasch digital experts installed a display to show changing promotions and current topics, which enables precise customer information in real time.
