umdasch The Store Makers realise a sustainable supermarket experience in the second markta store

Following the successful realisation of the first physical markta store in Vienna in 2023, the collaboration between markta and the shopfitting experts from umdasch has now entered its second round. The grand opening of another shop took place on 23 January 2025 in Zollergasse in Vienna's 7th district.
Covering around 300 square metres, the new markta branch in Zollergasse in the immediate vicinity of Mariahilfer Straße offers a marketplace for high-quality regional food. The shop design deliberately sets itself apart from traditional grocery stores and creates a pleasant shopping atmosphere for browsing and feeling good.
Innovative and sustainable shop design
The Store Makers from umdasch were able to support the project as a shopfitting partner with the production and assembly of the furniture. As in the first markta store, sustainable shopfitting elements characterise the visual appearance.
However, the store design itself differs from that of the existing branch in nearby Alser Straße: natural, regional materials perfectly and strikingly showcase the products on offer, such as the combination of red shelving solutions with elements made from local copper beech and Adneter Tropf, a Salzburg coral limestone. Centre-room furniture with deliberately low heights ensures an optimal overview of the product range with a marketplace character.
Lighting solutions from Trilux provide a harmonious lighting concept and the necessary highlights.
Sufficient space for product presentation
from the outset, markta founder Theresa Imre made a conscious decision to offer customers a new and unique shopping experience. Under the motto "Supermarket rethought", markta deliberately dispenses with narrow aisles and high shelves. Instead, well thought-out centre space solutions ensure a good overview and all-round visibility throughout the store and invite customers to browse the extensive range.
The tomato-red shelves produced in Austria by umdasch The Store Makers are positioned on the walls, where they form a special eye-catcher. The bistro and checkout area also blend harmoniously into the shop design and contribute to making grocery shopping a memorable experience.
