Every activity has an impact - in ecological terms, this can be measured by the carbon footprint. And that's exactly what we set out to do: measure the carbon footprint of umdasch's four production sites. Initially, we are focusing on our direct emissions, such as the fuel combustion of our company vehicles (scope 1), and indirect emissions from the production of purchased electricity, heat or cooling (scope 2). We also consider selected aspects of indirect emissions within the value chain (Scope 3).
However, this is only a first step! We then go on to make those areas where we see the greatest potential for improvement more environmentally friendly.

Environment
Respecting and caring for the environment
Our tireless efforts are necessary to optimise the use of scarce resources. Even better is to use recyclable materials that can be recycled and reused again and again. We therefore handle the necessary raw materials carefully, conserve resources and also use secondary raw materials (recycled materials).
We also set high standards for ourselves. We want to improve every day. That is why our environmental policy commits us to complying with legal standards and to continuous improvement.
Decarbonisation
Efficient production
Efficient design of production processes and machines not only makes economic sense, but also saves resources. In recent years, for example, we have invested heavily in modernisation and expansion at our largest production site in Leibnitz, Austria: much of the fossil fuel is now replaced by biogas, and new machinery saves energy and waste.
Industry 4.0 is becoming a reality at the associated logistics centre in Hasendorf, which opened in 2018: electric forklifts and automated delivery vehicles ensure a smooth and safe process - for our employees and customers alike.

Environmentally efficient investments
Careful and thoughtful financial management ensures the company's success, promotes innovation and contributes to sustainable development. Sustainable investments are those that have a short and long-term positive impact on the protection and health of employees, on our carbon footprint and on the continued existence and strength of our company. From the beginning of 2022, all relevant investments at umdasch are pre-screened for their eco-efficiency. This strengthens awareness of responsible behaviour - and sets the direction for economic thinking that takes into account long-term perspectives as well as environmental and social aspects.
Investing in new production facilities and machinery to the latest standards, renewable energy sources and the extension or renovation of existing buildings makes us bigger, more competitive, more modern and greener!
