# umdasch The Store Makers – A Generational Transition in Retail Store Design

  The Umdasch Group is paving the way for the next generation of leadership at its umdasch The Store Makers division. Dr Christian Herbinger, MBA, (51) will join the company as managing director on 1 August 2026, taking on the role of CEO of the shopfitting division on 1 January 2027. The division’s long-serving CEO, Mag. Silvio Kirchmair, will leave the company at the end of 2026, after 14 years at the helm of the division, to mark his 65th birthday.

Christian Herbinger has over 25 years of international management experience in the industrial, energy, and telecommunications sectors. Most recently, he served as Regional Director for DACH and as a member of the Management Board at Stiebel Eltron. Previously, he held management positions at the Vaillant Group, Wien Energie and T-Mobile, where he was responsible for international sales, as well as extensive transformation and growth programmes.

By arranging the succession at an early stage, the group is prioritising continuity and an orderly leadership transition within its shopfitting division. The transition phase, which will last several months, will ensure a structured handover of responsibilities and create the best conditions for a seamless change in leadership. Alongside the staff, Christian Herbinger will continue to build on the division's recent positive economic development and its successful course, with a clear focus on sustainable, profitable growth.
