Paradise for gourmets: New SPAR opens in Vienna's Mariahilfer Straße with shopfitting by umdasch The Store Makers
On 5 June 2024, a new SPAR shop opened on the famous Mariahilfer Straße shopping street in Vienna. In addition to the classic supermarket range, the shop also offers its own "SPAR-enjoy-to-go" world with snacks and fresh food to take away on around 800 square metres. umdasch The Store Makers was commissioned to implement the shopfitting for this exciting project.
Enjoyment experience on 200 square metres
In the new shop in the heart of Vienna, SPAR is now testing a new, innovative concept for take-away food: "SPAR-enjoy-to-go" combines the classic supermarket offer with a wide range of high-quality take-away meals. On the ground floor of the shop in Mariahilfer Straße, customers can expect a culinary variety: from bowl variations, wok dishes, sushi and stews to salads, focaccia and a large selection of vegetarian dishes, there are no limits to the appetite. The popular "hot bar" with classics such as meat loaf rolls or the traditional grilled chicken also find their place in the new concept. The design for the new "SPAR-enjoy-to-go" world comes from the architecture firm Kulmus Bügelmayer GmbH Interior & Architecture.
All the refrigeration units were framed with specially designed metal elements in a light brown colour, which were produced and installed by umdasch The Store Makers. The backlit panelling elements set the scene for the "SPAR-enjoy-to-go" area. Vienna connoisseurs will immediately recognise the city's landmark in the furniture fronts: Various design elements, modelled on the roof of St. Stephen's Cathedral, run like a common thread through the "SPAR-enjoy-to-go" world. The entire shop design gives the branch an unmistakable atmosphere and creates a link to the city's rich history and architectural masterpieces.
Classic supermarket with a proven design
The approximately 600 square metre supermarket on the lower sales level of the new SPAR shop features the food retailer's current shop design concept. The goods are presented on pearl mouse grey shelving solutions, which were produced, supplied and installed by umdasch The Store Makers.
