A forward-looking energy centre opened on Amstetten's main square at the end of June: the new service point for Stadtwerke Amstetten combines modern design with environmental education and community engagement across around 400 square metres. The sustainable experience space was conceived, designed and realised by umdasch The Store Makers.

The conversion of the former customer centre and white goods store has created a place that goes far beyond a traditional advice centre. With the motto "Experience the Future of Energy", an interactive space has been created for people of all ages to explore ecological issues, exchange ideas and learn about the municipal utility company's services.

Encounter and sustainability at the heart of the design

Our Store Makers worked closely with Stadtwerke Amstetten to create an open, multifunctional interior design with flexible pop-up and interactive elements, combining creative approaches with the courage to try something new. As well as selling refrigerators and household appliances, the advice centre now has enough space for events and workshops, and changing themed displays on regional environmental initiatives thanks to its modular design. Furthermore, a drinking fountain and a refill station contribute to reducing waste by enabling customers to fill reusable bottles with water and coffee beans.

Experience-orientated knowledge transfer through dynamic interior design

At the heart of the new service point lies the creative presentation of environmental topics. Right by the entrance, the 'place-and-learn' table invites visitors to discover the services of Stadtwerke Amstetten in an intuitive way. This playful learning system involves lifting individual 3D models, such as PV modules or an e-charging station, to bring up further information on a screen.

The 'electricity eco-house' demonstrates how renewable energies and intelligent synergies can be utilised in the home, showcasing everything from PV systems and storage solutions to household appliances.

Holistic implementation by umdasch The Store Makers

The Store Makers managed the new service point holistically and with great attention to detail from the initial concept idea to the design, production, delivery and installation. Focusing on experience, sustainability and intuitive user guidance, they created a space that sets new standards in many respects.

"The Stadtwerke Amstetten service point is more than just a customer centre – it is a place where people can learn and meet, and where energy and environmental issues are made accessible to all. As a designer, I am particularly pleased that we were able to realise such a groundbreaking project for sustainable future issues in our hometown of Amstetten," says Julia Mitteregger, Shop Consult Director at umdasch The Store Makers. The successful combination of an educational mission, a service-oriented approach and inspiring design shows what contemporary shopfitting can look like today and how the future can be experienced locally.
